| As a result of
my early loss, my entire career path has been around teaching
others what natural options they have to drugs and surgery, to increase
their awareness and impact of their everyday choices so that they can
live with purpose, and so they can live a long, happy life.
I am the owner and director of the Center for Health and Harmony in
Springfield, Virginia. I take all the stuff I've learned about
getting and staying healthy and put it all together for you in packages
so you don't have to spend as much time as I did trying to figure it out
for yourself. I call this a holistic approach to
health. What you see are the individual parts: nutrition counseling,
food coaching, cooking and food shopping, supplementation, massage therapy, stress
management techniques, Ayurvedic massage, breathing, yoga, having fun,
learning to relax, self-acceptance, and self-empowerment. It's a
whole-life, full-life approach.
In short: Self-Health.
Why? I want my friends
to live longer. Period.
After more than twenty years of experience in the field of health and
wellness as a wellness coach, life coach, Ayurvedic practitioner, and
massage therapist, I received additional nutrition training at the Institute
for Integrative Nutrition which is affiliated with Columbia
University, located in New York City. I am certified by the
American Association of Drugless Practitioners as a Holistic Health
Counselor.
I am trained and experienced in all of the different dietary theories (I've
tried just about everything out there), from eastern and western nutrition, to
modern health issues and chronic diseases, and personal growth and development.
Some call me a personal growth junkie. Being an avid and experienced
eater, I frequently cook for clients and introduce them to delicious new
foods. (Can you say, "quinoa"?!) Together, we learn
simplicity, good taste, and convenience.
On a physical level, in addition to protein, carbohydrates and fats, the body
needs vitamins and minerals, too. So, recognizing that the body works best
when it is supported on the very deepest levels, I wanted to find the best
nutritional supplements I could recommend to my clients, in addition to great
quality whole foods. As a result of intense research and trial and error,
I now recommend products from USANA Health Sciences, a health and wellness
company that offers the highest-quality nutritional supplements, functional
low-glycemic foods, and paraben-free nutriceuticals for the skin.
USANA isn't the only company that's out there, and
there are many good products. I chose USANA partially because of how well
they worked for me (hand pain, allergies). then I saw the independently
published
Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements reported USANA as the most
complete science-based antioxidant multivitamin product in all of North America,
and it has been given top marks for completeness, absorbability, potency,
purity, and safety--ranking higher than "whole foods based" supplements, which
aren't absorbed as well (therefore not utilized by the body!). I invite
anyone who is looking for a supplement who values science-based formulas to look
deeper into
USANA.
I have a special interest in working with people who are diabetic and
pre-diabetic and who want to learn how to live the sweet life—naturally—through
diet and lifestyle changes. I also love working with small business owners
(you've got to be healthy when you are your business) and performing
artists (frequently, your bodies are your instrument). I am a group
workshop presenter, and I am writing my first book.

Other fun facts are that I am a native of Pennsylvania and Florida, I spent a
good deal of my childhood and teenage years singing and dancing, and I secured
my first public speaking position in kindergarten.
I make my home in Springfield, Virginia with my husband and our two cats.
When not working or on stage singing with Sweet Adelines, I enjoy swimming,
yoga, reading, going to movies, cooking, and saving money on cable while
watching the cats play.
